Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about Fingerwaves (Short Hair).
Typical appointments run 45–75 minutes depending on hair thickness and desired wave detail. Initial consultations or added styling (accessories, deep conditioning) may add time. We schedule accordingly to ensure precision and a polished vintage finish.
When performed by trained stylists using gentle techniques and protective products, fingerwaves cause minimal stress. Avoid excessive heat and tight pinning between sessions, use hydrating treatments, and schedule regular trims to maintain hair health and elasticity.
With appropriate products and nightly protection, fingerwaves on short hair typically last three to seven days. Humidity, sleeping habits, and hair texture affect longevity. Simple touch-ups with a bit of gel and finger-smoothing can refresh waves between salon visits.
Yes—our stylists adapt the fingerwave technique for a range of textures. Curly or textured hair may require smoothing or heat-setting to define waves. We assess hair health and recommend prepping treatments to protect and achieve the best vintage wave outcome.
We use salon-grade setting lotions, lightweight gels, and flexible-hold pomades chosen for short hair. Heat-protectant sprays and nourishing serums add shine while preventing damage. Product choices are customized to texture and desired finish for long-lasting, touchable waves.
Sleep on a satin pillowcase or use a silk scarf to minimize friction. Lightly mist with a setting spray and avoid heavy brushing. In the morning, gently reshape waves with fingers and a small amount of serum for separated, shiny definition.
